Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

HomeHero UK ("HomeHero", "we", "us") is an independent platform that matches homeowners with trusted, approved local companies. This policy explains how we handle your personal information in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. HomeHero is the data controller for the personal information described below.

Information we may collect

  • Enquiry forms: your name, contact details (phone, email), postcode, the service you're interested in, any notes or answers you provide, and any photos you choose to upload.
  • Account registration: your name, email, password (stored securely) and account role.
  • AI chat assistant: the messages you send to our assistant and related session information, which may be stored to answer your questions and improve our service.
  • Approved company / installer applications: business and contact details, service areas and the services offered.
  • Website usage: basic technical information needed to run the site securely, and — only with your consent — analytics information (see our Cookie Policy).

Why we collect it and our lawful basis

  • To provide the service you request (matching you with a suitable approved company and arranging a free survey): performance of a contract, or taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
  • To operate and improve our platform (including responding to AI chat questions and running the site reliably): our legitimate interests in providing and improving a useful, secure service.
  • To manage approved company applications and relationships: performance of a contract and our legitimate interests.
  • Analytics, and any future advertising or marketing tools: your consent, which you can give or withdraw at any time via our cookie settings.
  • To meet legal obligations where applicable: compliance with a legal obligation.

How your enquiry may be shared

To deliver the service you've asked for, HomeHero matches your enquiry with a suitable approved company or service partner so they can provide a quote and arrange a survey. Your contact details are only released to an approved company once they accept your enquiry — you are not passed to multiple companies at once. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required to meet legal, accounting or reporting obligations. When information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete or anonymise it. If you would like your information removed, please contact us using the details below.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary storage to run the site (for example, keeping you signed in and remembering your enquiry progress). With your consent, we may also use analytics and, in future, advertising tools. Non-essential cookies and tracking scripts are not activated until you consent. Full details, and how to change your choice at any time, are in our Cookie Policy.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Subject to the conditions in law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Rectify information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erase your information ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict how we process your information.
  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing.
  • Data portability, where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
